The following policies apply to library materials housed in the Sloane Art Library only. Davis Library, the Undergraduate Library, and other departmental libraries on the UNC-CH campus have policies that may differ. Library CardsAll UNC-CH students, faculty, and staff must use their UNC-One Card as a library card. For all other patrons, library borrower's cards are available at the Davis Circulation Desk during all hours of operations. Card fees for qualified borrowers are $25 for a new issue, $25 per year for renewals, and $5 to replace lost cards. Cooperative lending: Borrowers from UNC System and TRLN institutions may use their institution's card, which must be activated at Davis Circulation Desk before books can be checked out from the Sloane Art Library. Loan PeriodsThe following loan periods apply to all materials checked out from the Sloane Art Library:
Non-circulating MaterialsThe following materials in the collection must be used in the library:
Policy for Overdue MaterialThe library is not obligated to send overdue notices, but does so as a reminder. When patrons receive overdue notices, the materials listed on the notice are already overdue and are subject to fines. Due dates are stamped on the inside of each book at the time of checkout. More information about notices can be found on the Davis Library Notices and Receipts page. Grace Periods and Overdue FinesNon-reserve book room materials Reserve book room materials All circulation and billing-related questions can be answered by calling 962-2397 during business hours, 8 AM - 5 PM weekdays. Recalls and HoldsAll books are subject to recall for other users and for Reserve. Reserve requests are recalled immediately. Due dates for books checked out for longer than 30 days are changed to 10 days from the time the recall was requested. Due date changes will be noted on the recall notice. Carrel charges are not recalled; they may be used at that carrel. RenewalsBooks may be renewed if not on hold for another patron or for use in the Reserve collection. Renewals may be made through the library's web-renewal service. Each borrower class has a different number of renewals permitted. If your limit has been met, you must return the item to the library to renew it. Revocation of PrivilegesSuspension of privileges varies among the different groups of borrowers depending on policies established by the Academic Affairs Libraries. Replacement ChargesThe minimum charges listed below apply for all books in the Sloane Art Library collection that are considered lost. The library considers a book lost when it is more than 42 days overdue. Replacement of the book may be an option if the precise edition and format (hardcover or paperback) are available. The amounts listed here are otherwise not negotiable. There is an appeal procedure.
Returning BooksWhen the Sloane Art Library is open, you should return books to its Circulation Desk. During after-hours or on days when the library is closed, there is a bookdrop at Davis Library. Because books, especially heavy art books, are often damaged in bookdrops, please return books to the Circulation Desk in a campus library if at all possible. It is recommended that all materials be returned to the library from which they were borrowed to avoid delinquency problems. |
