ARTstor. Provides curated collections of art images and
associated data for noncommercial and scholarly, non-profit educational
use.
Bibliography of the History of Art. The most
comprehensive index for the history of art; indexes
and abstracts journal articles, books, exhibition
catalogs and many other categories of publications.
Essential for scholarly research.
CAMIO offers rights-cleared, high-quality art images for class
projects, art history and studio art programs, course Web sites,
lectures, presentations, and research resources.
Gale Virtual Reference Library is a collection of 25 reference
books and encyclopedias in electronic format. The titles cover a
wide range of subjects, from the arts to medicine, and from
multicultural studies to social science. Contains articles on medieval
art and religion.
Index of Christian Art. The largest database of
medieval art; records do include references to
reproductions, and eventually there will be images.
Be sure to read the introduction and guidelines for
its use.
International Medieval Bibliography. This
bibliography of the European Middle Ages (c.
450-1500) has been produced in print form since 1968
by the International Medieval Institute (University
of Leeds). Coverage is drawn from over 4,000
periodicals as well as from miscellaneous collections
of conference proceedings, essay collections, and
Festschriften. ITER:
Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Indexes both books and
journals. Use a quick keyword search and then look at the full record
for subject headings. A very useful database, as its coverage is multidisciplinary. Manuscripta
Medievala. Manuscripta Mediaevalia provides online access to brief
descriptions of thousands of medieval manuscripts held in major European
libraries, universities, and other repositories. You can browse individual
manuscript catalogs (the "Kataloge"), or search in a comprehensive database
("Datenbank") by Keyword, Incipit, or Named Person. Some 70 selected
manuscripts are also available for viewing in digitized format. Sources in

1997] International Center for Medieval Art
includes a number of links, including
images from illuminated manuscripts and Biblical
texts. The
Labyrinth includes texts, images, bibliographies,
links to other organizations, and a search
engine.
