Jahrbuch der Jungen Kunst. Hrsg.
Georg Biermann. Leipzig: Klinkhardt & Biermann,
1920-1924.
An important modernist art journal, in addition
to the work of German artists like Otto Dix and George
Grosz, the Jahrbuch included American artists
Rockwell Kent and Maurice Sterne, and French artists
such as Matisse, Picasso and Laurencin. It also devoted
a ten-page section to African and Oceanic art, and
featured original graphics. The cover of our
highlighted issue was designed by Ferdy Horrmeyer. The
editor of the journal, Prof. Georg Biermann
(1880-1949), also wrote monographs on Dürer,
Kokoschka and the German Baroque and Rococo.
