Abstract: A Civil War scrapbook compiled by Kern, a member of the 13th Virginia Regiment, C.S.A, including descriptions and a few carefully executed drawings (one colored) by him of scenes from prison life at Johnson’s Island, Ohio, Camp Chase, Ohio, and Point Lookout, Md., playbills for a play produced by Confederate prisoners, a colored drawing of his home in Romney, Va., and diary entries (transcribed?) by him describing his Civil War experiences; and letters from Kern, 1860-1864, discussing family and military matters.
