Read more about Open Access Week at UNC

Open Access Week 2010 comes to the UNC campus through a series of campus and local events and the launch of the 2010-11 Open Access Authors’ Fund.
The UNC University Library and Health Sciences Library are promoting open access week to raise awareness of open access at UNC and to assist researchers who wish to publish in open access venues.
Open access refers to a range of initiatives for creating new models for sharing scholarly information. Open access offers the promise of free and immediate access to the results of scholarly research, coupled with the right of researchers to subsequently use those results as needed for scholarship.
Open Access Authors’ Fund 2010-11 Cycle Open
UNC faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and graduate or professional students may apply for funding of up to $1,000 to publish an article in an open access journal. $10,000 will be distributed through the fund during FY 2010-11. This support for open access publishing is provided jointly by the University Libraries and Health Sciences Library. For more information and an application form, visit our information page.
