Books created by artists from around the country will be on display during a trunk sale and program by Vamp & Tramp Booksellers on Nov. 16 in the Hanes Art Center at UNC.
The program will feature Bill and Vicky Stewart, owners of Vamp & Tramp, which is based in Birmingham, Al. Their talk, “Artists’ Books: When the Goblet Becomes the Wine,” will give an introduction to the genre, which is defined as works of art in the form of books.
Vamp & Tramp represents more than 300 contemporary fine presses and book artists. The Stewarts will showcase books in their inventory, selected to represent a wide range of the work currently being done by book artists.
During the trunk show, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase original artists’ books, with prices ranging from $25 to over $1,000.
The program is sponsored by UNC’s Sloane Art Library and Friends of the Library.
