Do you have a box (a trunk, or an entire basement) full of old family photographs? Do you want to keep them safe for future generations?
Join Stephen Fletcher, North Carolina Collection photographic archivist, and Biff Hollingsworth, collecting and public programming archivist in the Southern Historical Collection, to learn basic techniques to organize, identify, and preserve your family photographs.
You will learn about basic photographic formats and the proper handling and storage of your family heirlooms. Samples will be provided. Participants are also encouraged to bring a few of their own photographs to the workshop.
Workshop participants will have an opportunity to view the Southern Historical Collection exhibit Underexposed: The Art of Family Photography in the American South, now on view in the Melba Remig Saltarelli Exhibit Room of Wilson Library.
Although the workshop is free and open to the public, space is limited. Participants should RSVP by email to Biff Hollingsworth, at biff@unc.edu.
