Update (May 4, 2011): $769 raised for Habitat. Thank you, bakers and buyers!
Members of the Carolina Library Community plan to make the last day of classes sweet with a cupcake walk and sale on April 27 to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Find the cupcake of your dreams in front of Davis Library, or under the Davis Library awnings in case of rain. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m., or until all the cupcakes are sold.
One dollar will purchase one cupcake, or a chance to win two cupcakes in an old-fashioned cake walk.
The cupcake event is sponsored by the Carolina Library Community as a fundraiser for the UNC Build a Block project. As Build a Block champions, the University Libraries and the School of Information and Library Science plan to raise $35,000 and provide 2,000 hours of labor toward the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes for UNC employees.
You can also donate to the Library Community Build a Block effort in one of the following ways:
- Credit Card: Go to the Build a Block web page and select the “Donate” link . Select Carolina Library Community under “My gift supports a Habitat Champion!”
- Check: Make payable to “Habitat for Humanity of Orange County” (NOT to UNC, the Library, or to SILS), and write “Carolina Library Community” on the memo line. Deliver checks to the SILS Administrative Office at Manning Hall or the Library Administration Office in Davis Library.
