All ages are invited to “a banquet of beastly rhymes” with author Bob Forbes, as he reads from his newest collection of poetry for children, on Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m., in the Wilson Special Collections Library. “Let’s Have a Bite! A Banquet of Beastly Rhymes” (Overlook Press) features thirty-three “delectable rhymes about animals naughty and nice.” Characters including a photogenic buffalo, a color-changing emu, and a well-dressed narwhal are illustrated by British artist Ronald Searle. The staff of the Library’s Preservation Department invites you to make your own book. On the afternoon of April 27, room 214 Davis Library will become a makeshift bindery. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors will be able to sew—and keep—a small pamphlet with a decorative cover. The sewing process will only take about ten minutes. Continue reading
Students are invited to join UNC archivists on April 6 for a special viewing of the exhibit “From Di-Phis to Loreleis: A History of Student Organizations at UNC” and to get tips on how student groups can preserve their own history.
