Rare Books Are for Everyone: Second Annual Display of Recent Acquisitions April 12

On April 12, treasures will come out of the stacks at the Rare Book Collection in UNC’s Wilson Special Collections Library in the second annual display of recent acquisitions.

In the free public program at 5:45 p.m., Curator of Rare Books Claudia Funke will survey modern rare book culture and this year’s acquisitions, highlighting the inclusivity of rare books. Participants will have the opportunity during a reception beginning at 5 p.m. to view additions to the Rare Book Collection from the past year. Continue reading »

Data Management Toolkit to Help NSF Grant Applicants

Beginning January 18, 2011, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will require all grant proposals to include a data management plan.The UNC Libraries’ Data Management Committee has created a Research Data Toolkit that explains the new requirements and provides guidance to UNC researchers on drafting a plan. Grant to Fund Essays about Hugh Morton Photographs

The North Carolina Humanities Council has awarded the UNC Library $5,400 for the project “Worth 1,000 Words: Essays on the Photographs of Hugh Morton.” The grant will fund 13 essays that will provide insight into Morton’s work.
