Watch this video to hear curator Claudia Funke speak about annotated books in the Rare Book Collection. Of course, they come to us already annotated. No writing in a book takes place after it enters our collection. Heaven forbid!

Book marked, I really like your blog!
charming and well-done video on the rare – well – it depends on who’s doing the marginalia after all: if the book is filled with notations and underlines by someone whom you admire, or think you can learn from, the book can be pricey…and sought after, if the book mucker is well-known – this is particularly a plus in the esoteric tome field i’ve noticed
if i ever underline it’s with a ruler – i can’t stand books underlined with wobbly markers and pens and crude scrawls – if you’re gonna do it, at least do it with some style
