the fields of physics, electrical engineering and electronics, computers and
control engineering, and information technology. It also provides significant
coverage of applied mathematics, including mathematical physics, engineering
mathematics, computational mathematics, and mathematics computing.
Jahrbuch Project (1868-1942)
This project aims to provide a digital archive of the most important
mathematical publications between 1868 and 1942 and a database based on
Jahrbuch uber die Fortschritte der Mathematik.
Zentralblatt Math (1868-present)
The MATH Database contains about 2.3 million entries drawn from about
3500 journals and 1100 serials. It is produced by the Berlin editorial office of
FIZ Karlsruhe (in cooperation with European Academies and Mathematical Institutes).
C. Journal Collections (with full text and search and browse
capabilities)
JSTOR
JSTOR contains an archive of scholarly journal literature in many
disciplines. Its coverage excludes the last 2-5 years of current publications.
Kluwer
Journals OnlineKluwer Journals Online is the gateway to journals
published under the various Kluwer imprints.
SpringerLink OnlineSpringerLink is an information service that provides
access to Springer journals and book series.
ScienceDirectScienceDirect serves as a gateway to selected journals
published by Elsevier and its partners.
AMS Digital Mathematics RegistryThe AMS-DMR provides public
access to collections of digitized materials from various mathematical
journals and book series.
D. Preprint Sources
AMS Directory of Mathematics
Preprint and e-Print ServersThis directory presents numerous preprint
and e-print servers arranged by topic, host organization, or location.
ArXiv.org e-Print archive (Cornell University)
ArXiv.org provides access to scholarly articles in physics, mathematics,
non-linear science, and computer science.
E. E-Books
AMS Books Online
This source contains a small collection of books published by the American
Mathematical Society, access to individual titles on other websites, and
links to larger collections of scholarly mathematics books online.
The Multi-Repository Mathematics
CollectionsThese virtual collections contain over 2,000
volumes of significant historical mathematical material presented through the
collaboration of the University of Michigan Library, Cornell University Library,
and the State and University Library Gottingen. A single interface allows the
user to search across all three collections, but it should be noted that
searches of the Gottingen collection are primarily bibliographic while the other
collections provide full-text searching.
The Online Books Page (University of Pennsylvania)
This source
provides links to over 400 free online books in mathematics and computer
science. The site also offers searching and browsing by title and author.
F. Reference Sources
MATHnetBASE
MATH
netBASE provides full text access to many mathematics reference
sources published by CRC Press.
STATS
netBASE
STATS
netBASE provides full text access to statistics reference sources
published by CRC Press. Its content includes
statistics in business, law, medicine, and many other scientific disciplines.

II. PRINT RESOURCES (located in
Brauer Math/Physics Library)
A. Indexes and Abstracts
Catalogue of Scientific Papers, 1800-1900; Subject Index
MP Z7403.R881 v. 1
This volume provides subject access to nineteenth century scholarly work
in pure mathematics. No author index is available.
Jahrbuch uber die Fortschritte der Mathematik (1868-1942)
This source provides an author index, bibliographic information, and abstracts
for important mathematical publications between 1868 and 1942. Most entries are
in German. Many of the volumes have been automated and are accessible online
through the
Jahrbuch Project
.
Zentralblatt fur Mathematik und ihre Grenzgebiete (1931-present)
Although this source overlaps with MathSciNet, it provides better coverage of
European conferences and materials. Each issue has author and subject indexes,
and every 25th issue contains a cumulative index to the previous year.
B. Reference Sources
In addition to the titles listed below, Brauer Library owns a number of recent
mathematics handbooks published by CRC Press. These sources have not been listed
below because they are available electronically through
MATHnetBASE
.
Handbook of differential equations MP REF QA371.Z88 1992
This source provides a handy reference for many popular techniques used in
solving differential equations.
Handbook of mathematical functions with formulas, graphs,
and mathematical tables MP REF QA3.U5 No. 55 1972
In addition to tables of mathematical functions, this handbook presents
important mathematical properties and the numerical methods which demonstrate
the use and extension of the tables.
