Routing procedures for serials and series:
Serials
- All new serial titles go to the Serials Cataloging incoming table.
- Questions on whether a title is itself a monograph or a serial also go to Serials Cat. (att. Head serials cataloger )
Series
- If a serial or classed separately series decision needs to be made.
- If a decision to class together and analyze is needed.
- If the form of the series statement is incorrect or in question for a classed together series.
- If a conflict in authority records exists.
- If the authority record is incorrect.
- If a new NACO authority record needs to be made.
- If a new local authority record is needed for clarification.
- Other authority problems.
- Classed sep.: To Principal Monographic Series Cataloger (Carol Pekar)
- Classed tog.: To Authority Control Librarian (Betty Waynick)
For the following procedures route items to the Head of
the Analytics Unit (Debi Schledorn) :
- Setting up new sets or subsets in SAS (Serials Acquisitions Section) when received on a main series.
- Deciding if an item needs a separate SAS record when received on a set.
- Decisions on the numbering or organization of complex sets.
