castle Curator. Slavic & East European Collections, and the Andre Savine Collection

The Curator for Slavic and East European Collections, and the Andre Savine Collection selects materials in all formats for the Slavic and East European Collections in the vernacular and Western languages published in the territories of the former Soviet Union, former Yugoslavia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania, and Hungary. In addition, her responsibilities include the acquisition of materials in the vernacular published in the West. Retrospective materials in Slavic and East European area studies are also acquired by her regardless of their language or place of publication.

If you have any questions regarding the Library's acquisitions in English in the area of Humanities please contact Patricia B. Dominguez, Humanities Bibliographer; in the area of Social Sciences -- Luke Swindler, Social Sciences Bibliographer; in other Western languages with the exception of Spanish and Portuguese -- John B. Rutledge, West European Resources Bibliographer; for the materials published in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America -- Teresa Chapa, Latin American and Iberian Bibliographer; for East Asian publications -- Hsi-chu Bolick, East Asian Resources Bibliographer; and for South Asian Resources -- Avinash Maheshwary, South Asian Resources Bibliographer.

For specialized questions, particularly those requiring knowledge of vernacular languages contact Nadia Zilper, | E-mail | Curator. If you are not affiliated with the University of North Carolina university system or have highly specialized and particularly difficult reference questions which neither the Reference Department nor N. Zilper can answer please forward your inquiry to the Slavic Reference Service at the University of Illinois.

If you would like to request a title for acquisition, fill out a Title Request Form. Please keep in mind that bibliographic information for the materials in Cyrillic script is entered in romanized form. You may wish to consult the Library of Congress Transliteration Tables.
