Catalog Search Tips

*Searching for books in the Library's catalog is often best done by either Keywords or Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). 1) Start with a Keyword search and identify one or more relevant books. 2) Then look at the LC subject headings given to those titles. 3) Follow the subject heading links to find similar books, or you can use the terms in the subject headings to revise your search strategies. Here's some sample searches.

Keyword Search: Medical ethics in public health

LC Subject Heading: "Medical ethics" ; "Delivery of Health Care -- ethics"

 Keyword Search: Monotheistic religion

 LC Subject Heading: "Monotheism"

Keyword Search: Chinese product branding strategies

LC Subject Heading: "Success in business -- China"
