CiNii National Institute of Informatics Scholary and Academic Information Navigator.
Cinii is a database service that enables searching of information on academic articles published in academic society journals or university research bulletins, or articles included in the National Diet Library's Japanese Periodicals Index Database. It also contains a large number of articles that are available free of charge, and the search function can be used without registration. Access to full text documents is possible with 3.2 million of the 12 million articles currently available on CiNii.

Bibliography of Asian Studies
Citations to articles published worldwide from 1971 for East, Southeast and South Asia.

Dissertations & Theses
Indexes US dissertations from 1861 to as recent as last semester with full text available from 1997 on. Masters' theses are covered more selectively and some full text is available. The database covers work done at more than a thousand institutions, primarily in the United States but also in Canada and Great Britain, and at other European universities for recent years.

JSTOR
JSTOR includes important scholarly journals for humanities, social sciences, international and foreign areas studies.

ARTSTOR
Provides curated collections of art images and associated data for non-commercial and scholarly, non-profit educational use.

Project Muse
Currently, MUSE provides full-text access to current content from over 400 titles representing nearly 100 not-for-profit publishers. The MLA database now links to Project Muse journal articles

UNC East Asian Collection: Japanese Studies
Selected online resources for Japanese study, including online dictionaries, databases, maps, images, etc.

Japan Knowledge (Access through UNC)
In Japanese. JapanKnowledge contains a number of reference sources in Japan including Encyclopedia Nipponica, Kodansha Encyclopedia of Japan, Progressive Japanese-English/English-Japanese Dictionaries, Gendai Yogo No Kiso Chishiki, Nihon Jinmei Daijiten, recent issues of the Economist Japanese edition, and other full-text and partial full-text resources.

Japan Center for Asian Historical Records
In English and Japanese. JACAR is a digital database testifying to Japan's historical relations in Asia as well as elsewhere. This site provides access to official documents—dating from the Meiji era through 1945.

Digital Library from Meiji Era (1868-1912)
In Japanese only. Image database of the books published in the Meiji era and held by NDL. As of August 2003, 47,000 volumes, almost all the books whose copyrights are confirmed to have expired, excluding children's books and books in Western languages, are available. Containing not only full text images, the database also has functions to search tables of contents and to bookmark texts.

National Diet Library - OPAC
The NDL consists of the Tokyo Main Library, the Kansai-kan and the International Library of Children's Literature (ILCL). If you search the holdings of any particular library, select from the pull-down menu of the "Select a library" box on the Search for General Materials.
