Amnesty International Online.
Amnesty International's mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights. This database contains web versions of its publications (including periodicals, reports, briefing papers, and news releases) going back to the early 1990s.

BBC News: Country Profiles.
Full profiles provide an instant guide to the history, politics, and economic backgrounds of countries. They also include audio and video clips from the BBC archives.

Country Indicators for Foreign Policy.
The project represents an on-going effort to identify and assemble statistical information conveying the key features of the political, economic, social and cultural environments of countries around the world. The cross-national data generated through CIFP was intended to have a variety of applications in government departments, NGOs, and by users in the private sector. The data set provides at-a-glance global overviews, issue-based perspectives and country performance measures. Currently, the data set includes measures of domestic armed conflict, governance and political instability, militarization, religious and ethnic diversity, demographic stress, economic performance, human development, environmental stress, and international linkages.

This website contains the on-line versions of books previously published in hard copy by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the U.S Updated irregularly

Europa World Plus.
Country information includes an overview of recent history, politics, and economics, along with basic economic and demographic statistics and directory information for government, political parties, industry and business, media, trade and labor associations, and institutions of higher education. Europa World Plus also provides information on over 1900 international organizations.

IHS Global Insight
Global Insight provides regional, national, and global economic, financial, and commodity information. Included are detailed and up to date reports on 206 countries, formatted to provide standardized sections (called 'silos'): political, economic, legal, tax, operations and security.
