Web Safety | Introduction

This final section of the Web Basics tutorial focuses on Web Safety. Remember that the web connects millions and millions of different computers. That makes it a really useful resource, but it also makes it a potentially dangerous one. You may have heard horror stories about identity theft, credit card fraud, computer viruses, and other dangers of the web. While these are real concerns for web users, you can usually avoid them if you're aware of basic web safety rules.

The biggest rule of web safety is simple: be careful. If something seems suspicious, or too good to be true, it probably is. If you use your common sense and follow your instincts, you can avoid a lot of web-related dangers.
