Faculty Studies

Faculty Studies are assigned to individuals to facilitate research and use of the main collection at Davis Library.

Who may apply?
Faculty studies are available to UNC faculty including visiting and Emeritus faculty and visiting scholars. The Faculty Studies Committee, a permanent committee of the Administrative Board of the Library, has authority to assign studies and also recommends policy on the assignment of the studies to the Board for its approval.

How do I apply?
UNC faculty and visiting scholars may apply by filling out an application available at the Davis Circulation desk. Studies are assigned primarily to facilitate research in the collections held in Davis Library. They may not be used as retreats from faculty offices or as overflow space for crowded departments. A statement of the research project is required to help us properly identify the researcher's needs. Applications returned incomplete will not be processed.

When do I need to renew?
The renewal process is covered on the Carrel Policy web page.

If you have any questions about Graduate Carrels, please contact Mitchell Whichard.
