mission:

In keeping with the mission of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and with that of the UNC University Libraries, the mission of the Global Resources and Area Studies (GRAS) Department is to:

  • Serve the university, local and global communities, specializing in the regions represented by GRAS.
  • Build strong international research collections through careful selection and acquisition of quality information resources.
  • Support international research and teaching by serving as a gateway for library services and resources.
  • Disseminate knowledge by providing specialized reference services and instruction.
  • Promote information literacy.
