Course Support for Instructors and Coordinators
From assuring access to resources and services to providing instructional support, the University Library can help provide a seamless research experience for distance learners and educators. Creating an information-rich course can be a daunting task given the thousands of electronic resources, including books, journals, and databases, not to mention issues like scanning and copyright. Our staff will work with you to identify, customize, and integrate information resources and library services into your courses.
Access to Library Resources
Contact us to confirm that distance students and faculty are entered into the library patron database. We will need names, PID numbers, addresses, email, and social security numbers. An online form will soon be available to facilitate this process.
Blackboard
Request a one-on-one consultation with a librarian to integrate reserve readings, journal articles, library tutorials, and other information resources with your Blackboard site.
E-Reserves
The Library's e-reserve staff can scan, upload, and pursue copyright permission for your course readings. They can also make other course-related materials available. Learn more about e-reserves or contact us.
Linking to Articles
- Use Linkguide to learn how to create stable links
- IM or chat with a librarian to report a broken link
- Consult with a librarian to schedule a link management workshop for yourself and others in your department
Research Support
We can help you connect your students with a subject specialist who can provide general and specialized research assistance. Check our list of subject specialists or contact us for more information.
Class Instruction, Tutorials, and Course Pages
Librarians are also available to provide course and subject-specific library instruction tailored to meet your schedule and needs. This instruction can take a variety of forms including online and in-person research instruction, and guides that can be included in your Blackboard courseshell. Examples of course pages and tutorials can be viewed online.
