SpringerLink is provides online information services for scientific, technical, and medical books and journals. SpringerLink is a data source for researchers in academic and corporate institutions and other vital knowledge centers, offering electronic and printed literature from Springer-Verlag. It also offers the work of a growing roster of publishers, including Urban and Vogel, Steinkopff, and Birkhäuser. All former Kluwer Academic journals are now available on SpringerLink. UNC faculty and students also can access and print the full-text of articles in all journals as well as the contents of the book series covered.

To sign up for "Table of Contents Alerting," you will first need to register. From SpringerLink's homepage, please scroll down until you see the option to register, on the right side of your screen, and click on the button.

1. Enter in your name, email address, and affiliation (which will be used to create your username). Please also enter in your preferred username and a password. You will be logged in and given a metapress ID. Please save this, along with your username and password.
2. Once you have logged in you will see a menu bar at the top of the page. Please select the tab that says "Alert." From here you may choose to update either your Table of Contents alerts or your Keyword alerts.
3. To set your Table of Contents alerts, click the "Table of Contents Alerting" button, and choose the publications you would like to receive alerts from, by either browsing through an alphabetical list of titles, or by subject area. You may also set your alerting preferences by clicking on the "Properties" button.



4. To set your Keyword Alerts, go back to the Alerts page by hitting the "Alert" tab, then click on the button for "Keyword Alert." You will see a page that says "There is no current Keyword Alert search." Please click on the "Add" button to add one.



5. Fill in your criteria and click "Ok."
6. As an alternative, you may also register for alerts from your main page; once you have logged in you will see the following image on the right side of the screen
