Designing Effective Research Assignments
Designing Effective Research Assignments
Traditional models of research are changing. The challenge
is to create research assignments that will give your
students the critical thinking skills they need to navigate
an increasingly complex information environment. Students'
research skills improve through effective library
assignments designed with a particular course in mind.
Effective library instruction will:
-
Ask a student to find information relevant to the course
content.
-
Teach a student how to use library resources important to
a particular subject area.
Librarians are available to:
-
Help design a research assignment.
-
Provide in-class library instruction to promote success
with an assignment.
-
Create a web-based tutorial to support a class research
assignment.
