How Do I Access my AFS Space?

If you are working on a library computer that does not require an Onyen login, you can still access your AFS space by following these directions:

  1. Double-click on the AFS Client Icon ( ) in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

  2. Click on the Button that says, "Obtain New Tokens".

  3. Enter your ONYEN and password. Click OK.

  4. Click on the "Drive Letters" tab.

  5. Drive J: should already be mapped to: \afs. Make sure the box beside Drive J: is checked.

  6. Drive H: will need to be changed to reflect the location of your personal AFS space on the campus network. Highlight Drive H: and click "Change". Your personal AFS space is located on the campus network as in the below example.

\afs\isis.unc.edu\home\first letter of onyen\second letter of onyen\onyen

For example, someone with an ONYEN of "myonyen" would type in the following location for drive H:

\afs\isis.unc.edu\home\m\y\myonyen

When you are finished using the computer, double-click the AFS client. Under the "Tokens" tab, click "Discard These Tokens".

You can also watch this video on setting up your AFS space on a library computer.

If you would like to set up your AFS space on your own computer, follow these directions or contact help.unc.edu.
