Only UNC Chapel Hill students or faculty members may borrow equipment. A valid UNC One Card is required for check-out.
Laptops and laptop accessories (see complete list) may be checked out for three (3) hours and can only be used in the Library. All items are due back one (1) hour before the library closes. The library will stop circulating laptops and zip drives two (2) hours before the library closes. When the library is open overnight, laptop loans are made only between 8am and 10pm, and should be returned before 11 pm. Laptops may be renewed 1 time. These items may not be reserved for hold request, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Laptops accrue fines at the rate of $7.50 per 15 minutes overdue ($30.00 per hour). Other equipment and accessories carry a fine of $1.00 per 15 minutes overdue ($4.00 per hour). There is no grace period or maximum fine. The repair or replacement charge of a laptop is a maximum of $4,000 plus a processing fee.
