The Media Resources Center, part of the R.B. House Undergraduate Library, serves the instructional and curricular needs of the University community and the individual study, scholarship, cultural enrichment and recreation needs of UNC students and faculty.

We provide in-house viewing & listening facilities with over 30 media stations & 3 screening rooms. Our media stations support these formats: DVDs, VHS, CDs, LPs, Laser Discs, Mini-Discs, Audio Cassettes, Slides & 16mm film. Identification (UNC OneCard, TRLN card, Duke or NCSU student ID, Town Borrowers Card) is required for the use of all equipment or materials at the Media Resources Center.

The Digital Media Lab gives UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and staff access to the latest in multimedia software and hardware. Our lab has eleven work stations, each offering a wide range of video hardware and software.

The Digital Audio Lab has a G5 Apple PowerMac, 88-key weighted MIDI keyboard, Nady condenser mics, MOTU audio interface and an Emagic Logic mixing board. Equipped with software such as GarageBand, Logic and Bias Peak, the Digital Audio Lab allows everybody from the beginner to the pro to create music from the ground up.

    Streaming video of full length documentaries from Films Media Group's Master Academic Collection. The Master Academic Collection digital video archive includes more than 5000 complete videos with approximately 500 new titles added every year. Subject areas include: Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, Business & Economics, and Health. The collections are dynamic – as new programs are added, they will be available to current subscribers automatically. Subscribers are allowed unrestricted, asynchronous, 24/7 access to all video content by authorized faculty, students, and staff from any location.

    Book your films, here’s how:

    • Need to book one film for preview or for your class? Check out our online booking form. Fill out the form, send it in, and we'll book it. You get a nifty confirmation email, letting you know the film is available and booked for you. You can also request a screening room on the form, too. Isn't that swell?

    • Need to book more than one film at a time? Email us with your name, PID, phone number, department, course title, class size (number of students), & titles of the films you need along with the requested show date(s).

    Give us 24-hours notice and the materials, if available, will be ready for pick up at the scheduled time.
