Tips for Searching Filmfinder
Searching
Filmfinder was developed to allow patrons to
search for information on films in ways that they are
used to and are comfortable with. Like any other
resource it is often helpful to know what the designers
intended. Below are some tips to familiarize you with
the Filmfinder and make your searches more
effective.
|
You may search by any of the fields on the form
by themselves or in conjunction with other fields.
The more fields you use to search, the more likely
a direct match will be.
|
|
To browse films by genre or place of origin
select only the genre or origin fields. You can
also review the list of genres, origins and
directors with links to respective filmographies.
This will give all the films matching your search
parameter.
|
|
To clear the search form completely click on the
New search link located just above the search
form.
|
|
If you are searching for films on a specific
subject that does not appear in the genre list
enter the subject into the description
field.
|
Conventions
Below is a description of some vocabulary and conventions used in the resource.
|
Dates are listed as four digit years. If we
were unable to find an exact year a 'u' or '?' has
been used to replace the year, decade or century in
question.
|
|
Run times are in minutes unless otherwise indicated.
|
|
For holdings, call numbers and availability follow the format links.
