While you are always welcome to visit any of the UNC campus libraries, as a student working at a distance, that's not always possible. In addition to the many UNC library collections, there are a number of other libraries that may be useful to distance education students doing research. These include libraries in the Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN), UNC school libraries in other parts of the state, AHEC libraries, and public libraries.

TRLN Libraries: The Triangle Research Library Network includes Duke University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, and UNC Chapel Hill. Information about TRLN, including links to the websites of all participating libraries, can be found at http://www.trln.org/.

UNC System Libraries: In addition to the collections housed at UNC Chapel Hill, there are thirteen other UNC system libraries. Distance education students may use their One Card to borrow books from any UNC System Library. Links to the catalogs of these libraries can be found at http://www.lib.unc.edu/catalogs/uncsystemcats.html.

AHEC Libraries: AHEC stands for Area Health Education Centers; AHEC has a network of health information libraries across the state. Anyone can visit AHEC libraries, and library cards are available at each center. Students needing clinical health resources may also be interested in AHEC's Digital Library at http://library.ncahec.net; those who do not have an AHEC Digital Libraries Account number can sign in as a guest to view resources available through this service. Information about AHEC can be found at http://www.med.unc.edu/ahec/.
Public Libraries: Don't underestimate the resources available through your local library. A statewide list of public libraries can be found at http://statelibrary.dcr.state.nc.us/library/publib.htm.
