Aging Research from a Distance

Finding Articles: Document Delivery

If there are articles you need that are not available online, you can request them through a service called document delivery. Document delivery is a special service only available to students enrolled in distance education programs. It is similiar to an interlibrary loan (a request for materials not owned by the UNC libraries) and in fact uses the same request form. Document delivery, however, allows distance education students to request and have delivered materials owned by the UNC libraries.

The most important thing to know before requesting materials is your home department or school affiliation. The University Libraries and Health Sciences Library have separate request forms for their document delivery/interlibrary loan services. The form you choose depends on your home department rather than the type of book or journal article you need.

Once you have identified the school or department you are affiliated with, your next step is to register as a first-time user and establish an account username and password. When registering, make sure to indicate under status that you are a distance education student.
