Creating Scientific Information

Picture of two scientists consulting. Myra Collins, associate professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, and Mia Doron, cinical assistant professor of pediatrics The process of creating scientific information begins when scientists first come up with an idea, aided by reading articles and books. Their ideas are further developed through research and communication with other scientists via listservs and email. Scientists share their findings informally or through presentations at seminars and conferences.

Eventually, scientists are ready to disseminate their research results to a wider audience, and they publish them in the primary literature.
