During the peer review process, the quality of research and research results cited in a
scientific paper will
be evaluated.
Once a
paper is submitted to a journal, reviewers will often
request that the authors make changes. After suggested
changes have been made, publishers then send the submitted
paper to other scientists, who read and critique it
to ensure that the paper describes good quality
research. If the paper passes the review process, it
is then published as a research article. For
chemists, peer-reviewed journal articles are key
sources of scientific information.
