SciFinder Scholar

CAS publishes a print version of Chemical Abstracts and offers access in a number of other ways including microfilm, online, CD-ROM, and licensed databases. One of the newest ways of accessing Chemical Abstracts is SciFinder Scholar.

SciFinder logo

SciFinder Scholar, which is updated daily, allows you to search CAPlus, the online version of Chemical Abstracts, and MedLine, an index to the medical literature created by the National Library of Medicine.

You can search SciFinder Scholar at the Chemistry Library, the Math/Physics Library and the Health Sciences Library, or you can download special software to your computer and access it while on campus. The downloading instructions are at http://www.hsl.unc.edu/services/access/scifischol.cfm

Because a limited number of people on UNC's campus can use SciFinder Scholar at a time, it is important that you log off when you are finished so that others may use it.

Quick Review
Chemical Abstracts is a good way to find chemistry articles and patents.
