Tips for Searching Scifinder Scholar by Research Topic
One nice feature about SciFinder Scholar is that you describe your research topic using plain English. Here are some
tips for searching by research topic:
- Substances or properties may have more than one name. The name that is used now may not be the same as the name
used in earlier articles. Be creative in thinking about how authors might have referred to the
substance or property in which you are interested.
- Add synonyms in parentheses after the related word or phrase.
- Electron paramagnetic resonance (electron spin resonance) of manganese complexes in Photosystem II (PSII)
- Use OR and AND unless a preposition (after, between, from, in, upon,
etc.) would better describe what you're looking for.
