When you open SciFinder Scholar, the first thing you will see is the "New Task" menu. You have three choices: "Explore," "Locate" or "Browse." Click "Locate" when you are looking for a known reference or substance. This tutorial will only discuss the "Explore" option, which allows you to search. The Explore menu is shown below.

You can search articles directly ("Literature"), or search for substances or reactions. This tutorial will discuss only "Research Topic" and "Author Name." Searching by "Research Topic" is one of the most common ways people find articles using SciFinder Scholar.
