Using EndNote with ATLA Religion Database
Versions 8 and 9 of Endnote ship with a flawed ATLA (CSA) filter that will place the majority of the citation information into the
Notes field. You can download a new filter that should work better by following the steps below.
- Right click on the following link: ATLA Updated (CSA).enf. This is the new filter file.
- Select Save link as...
- Save the file into your Endnote filters directory. This is often c:\program files\endnote\filters\ but will vary depending on where your copy of Endnote is installed.
- If you were running Endnote when you saved the file, exit and restart Endnote.
Instructions for Downloading ATLA References:
Once you've marked some records from your search results:
- Choose Save, Print, Email.
- Change from short format to long format in the drop-down list.
- Click Save and save the file somewhere on your computer. Make sure you will be able to locate this file again.
- Go to EndNote and choose import under the file menu.
- For Import Data File, find the text file you
saved earlier.
- For Import Option, select other filters from the drop-down list and then find the ATLA Updated (CSA) filter that you downloaded previously. If EndNote was open when you downloaded
the filter, you may have to close and reopen the program for the Updated ATLA filter
to show up on the list.
- Click Import, and your records should import into Endnote.
