One of the easiest ways to build your EndNote library is to import the references from reference sources such as bibliographic databases. The following directions are for databases provided by OCLC FirstSearch, including WorldCat:
Step 1: Conduct your search and mark the records you would like to import to Endnote.
Step 2: Click on the Export button on the toolbar at the top of the page.
Step 3: Select the records you want to export and click the Export button. (Note: the default is NOT to marked records)

Step 4: OCLC will automatically open EndNote. Click on the library you want to export the citations into and click ok.
Step 5: Once you have selected the library, the EndNote filter box will appear. It should default to the OCLC database you were searching. If it does not, you must select the appropriate database from the list. Click choose and the citations should appear in your library.

If you do not have EndNote on your workstation, you'll need to use your
browser's download function to save your file and import it into EndNote
using a filter.
1. Click Export as above and using your browser's Download or Save As
function, navigate to the local drive and directory to which you will
save the file.
2. Type the file name to be saved. (Note: Assign a name that will help you locate
the file later on.)
3. Select a file type.
4. Click Save to save the bibliographic
data to your local drive.
5. From EndNote, click on File, then
Import.
6. At the Import box, click Choose File and find the file you saved.
7. Click on the Drop-down menu next to Import Options and select Other
Filters.
8. At the Filters box, select the appropriate OCLC database filter.
9. At the Import box, choose to either Discard Duplicates or Import All,
and leave Text Translation on No Translation.
10. Cross your fingers and toes and click on Export.
