Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a library service that students, faculty, and staff can use to request materials from other libraries. You must login with your ONYEN to access the online form. First-time users will be asked to register in order to use this service.
Some requested photocopies may be available via electronic delivery as PDF documents. Information about the status of your request is available online at any time. Requests that can be filled at Duke University, North Carolina Central University, or North Carolina State University usually take 2-4 working days. Other orders can take several weeks to fill, so place your requests as early as possible.
Carolina Blu (Bring the Library to U) is a delivery service that enables you to request on-campus delivery of materials and borrow materials not available at UNC-Chapel Hill (Interlibrary Loan). Campus delivery service allows you to have UNC-owned items delivered to other libraries on campus that are more convenient for you; you can also request to have articles that are not available online scanned and sent to you electronically.
Carolina-Duke Consortium
UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University maintain one of the oldest cooperative acquisitions programs in the country in the area of Latin American Studies. This cooperative collections agreement supports the Consortium in Latin American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Both Carolina and Duke acquire core materials from throughout Latin America to support undergraduate study.
In addition, both work cooperatively to purchase research-level materials, special formats, and expensive items such as censuses, films, and large documentary microform collections. Each university takes responsibility for collecting materials from parricular countries. Keep these differences in mind as you search either catalog for resources.
