Internet Resources
Internet resources can be invaluable, but it can often be difficult to find relevant and valid information. Evaluating web resources for accurate information can be time consuming and frustrating, though you can check the websites section of the Library's Evaluating Information Tutorial for help. Listed below are a few Latin American resources that have been identified as being among the most helpful.

América Latina. Portal Europeo. (In Spanish)
European Information and Research about Latin America.

Contains links to European web pages in all fields of science and culture related to Latin America, as well as to Latin American Studies programs, research groups and specialists, and documentary sources for Latin America found in Europe. It also provides current news about conferences and congresses, research projects, publications, etc., abstracts of articles on latin America published in European journals, and a virtual library of publications about Latin America produced by REDIAL and CEISAL.

Includes links on macroeconomics, management, poverty, equality, transportation, sanitation, and urban development.

Internet Modern History Sourcebook
Includes full text of documents and essays as well as links to other resources on Colonial, 19th Century, and 20th Century Latin America.

ISLA — Information Services Latin America
Contains links to general and alternative news and information sources from and about Latin America grouped by subject, country and community, as well as links to various non-profit organizations working on Latin American issues.

La Guía: Internet Resources for Latin America

Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC) (In English, Portuguese, and Spanish)
Affliated with the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at UT-Austin and targeted towards people in Latin America (as well as those interested in the area), LANIC's mission is to facilitate access to Internet-based information to, from, or about Latin America. With more than 12,000 unique URLs, it is one of the largest collections on the Internet. The browsable Country Index is particularly useful.

Latin American Studies Southeast Region (LASER)
A consortium of library collections in the southeastern United States dedicated to Latin American studies, LASER's website includes links to most major universities' library catalogs in the area as well as links to other major consortia in California and the northeast. The Newspaper Union List indicates which libraries subscribe to specific Latin American newspapers and the loan policies for interlibrary borrowing.

Library of Congress Hispanic Reading Room (In English, Portuguese, and Spanish)
This website includes guides and reference aids to the reading room collections and to Internet resources. The on-line collections provide histories and bibliographies for digitized collections relating to Luso-Hispanic research.

Portals to the World — Iberia, the Caribbean, and Latin America

Prossiga - Bibliotecas Virtuais Temáticas (In Portuguese)
This site is a collection of portals, developed by area specialists under the auspices of the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology. It provides links to databases, organizations, publications, laws, and other resources relating to a variety of subjects including Agriculture, Art, Education, Literature, Medicine, and Politics.
