Finding Bills in Print & Microform Sources

Some older bills can be found in print and microform formats in the Documents Section in Davis Library's Reference Department.

Bills from 1979 - 2000 are available on microfiche. Use Thomas - Bill Summary & Status to look up bills. Note the bill number and bring it to the Reference Desk to retrieve the bill.
• Tips for using Thomas to look up bills.

Finding the text of bills from before 1979 is not always possible. Some bills are available in the Congressional Record or its predecessors, and some are included in hearings. If a bill is reported out of committee, a version is included in the committee report.

Remember, many bills from 1799 - 1873 are available online from A Century of Lawmaking for a New Nation.
