Campus records were first deposited with the Southern Historical Collection, but in the 1950s, the University record groups were separated from the SHC's collections. In 1978, the University Archives and Records Services was formally established and recognized as the official repository for the University's records.

Scope	University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus records. UNC system (President, Board of Governors, etc.)
Time Period	Late eighteenth century to the present. Strongest coverage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
