A search for "college athletes" and "scholarships" will provide the following results:

Most of these results will be links to collection finding aids. The links, highlighted in blue, will either be the title of the finding aid or its web address. The text below the title will be excerpts from the finding aids with your keywords boldfaced.
- Browse the result list and descriptions in order to determine the effectiveness of your initial search.
- If your result list is too long, you may need to add more descriptive keywords.
- If your result list is too short, you may need to use fewer or more general keywords. In the example above, you could broaden your search by removing the word "college" and only searching for the words, "athletes and scholarships."
- The result list may generate alternative keywords. In the example above, you may find it would be better to use words like "grants-in-aid," or "subsidizing" instead of "scholarships."
- If a result looks relevant, click on the link to review the finding aid for that collection. Be aware that clicking on this link will take you to the collection's finding aid, not the materials in the collection itself.
