Several local repositories have collections and other materials, which complement the Department's holdings. On the UNC Chapel Hill campus, the North Carolina Collection, the Photographic Archives, and the Rare Books Collections all have related materials. You may search the online catalog and departmental web sites for the holdings of these repositories:
North Carolina Collection: Second Floor, Wilson Library
- Holds published and printed materials concerning the state and the University.
- Holds over 400,000 images, which provide a visual record of the University's history and North Carolina's people, places and events.
- Holds the Southern Pamphlet Collection, which includes over 10,000 pamphlets, brochures, and broadsides, dating from the 1820's to present.
The North Carolina State Library and the Office of Archives and History hold many public records, some particularly useful in genealogical research.
