The Manuscripts Department registers all researchers who use the collections. Researchers complete a brief registration form, provide a valid ID, and sign a research agreement. On the registration form, you will provide contact information, academic status, and information concerning your subject of research. The research agreement lists the rules and procedures you need to abide by in order to use the collections.

The Department uses these forms to:

• learn about our users' research needs;
• educate our users about rules and procedures;
• gather statistics about use of collections;
• discover how users found our collections;
• learn who our users are; and
• protect the collections.
