Clues for determining some document types and functions:

• Does the letter have a printed letterhead?
  
• Is the signature at the end of a letter original or stamped?
  
• Does the document have the structure of a memo?
  
• Does the document have a seal or embossed stamp?
  
• Does the document contain multiple signatures or the words "in witness whereof"?
  
• Do the words "indenture" or "agreement made and entered onto" appear in the document?
  
• Do the words "received of" followed by a personal or organization name appear in the document?
