Evidence and Information (Continued)

Information

Whereas evidence is implied in the manuscripts, information is the data explicitly described. As you use primary sources, you will gather information such as names, dates, and places. These details will form the framework of your research. Information helps you to identify relationships between people and to place the content within its historical context.

While information is crucial to your research, you may need to approach these "facts" with skepticism. Information is usually stated as fact, but it is not always accurate and may even be intentionally misleading. If you decide to present the information you find in manuscripts as fact, you should verify that information with other sources
