The Boolean operator OR broadens your search to include documents that have the phrase Asperger syndrome as well as those that have the phrase high functioning autism. An OR search will find documents that have either Asperger syndrome or high functioning autism (or both).
Many databases guide you by including these Boolean operators in their search interface.
