If an item you need for your research is not available in the UNC Library System, you may be able to access a copy through interlibrary loan. Also referred to as "interlibrary borrowing," interlibrary loan is a library service that students, faculty, and staff can use to request books or photocopies of articles from other libraries.

This service is available via the web-based request form shown above.
- First time users are asked to register by entering their names, addresses, and other information.
- You will also be asked to create a username and password. It is important to remember your username and password so you don't have to register again.
Expedited service is available in cooperation with Duke University, North Carolina Central University and North Carolina State University. Requests that can be filled at one of these three universities take less time, about 2-4 working days. Other orders can take several weeks to fill, so it's a good idea to make your requests as early as possible.
