Psychology Research Tutorial

APA Style

As you conduct your research and write your paper, it is extremely important to note where the words and ideas you use come from, and to carefully cite the information sources you use, whether they are the Internet-based or print materials.

While each academic discipline prefers a specific format, APA Style is the format preferred by most of the disciplines in the social sciences. APA Style refers to the citation format established by the American Psychological Association.

The following pages provide examples using the format for various information sources. For more information, you can consult the print version of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association located in UL and at the Davis Reference Desk (Call Number BF76.7.P83 2001) or visit the APA Style Website.
