Films from the Czech Republic

are some recommended titles:
-
Kolya: This Academy Award winning film tells the story of confirmed bachelor and lady's man Louka, a concert
cellist in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia and his relationship with the five-year-old Russian boy, Kolya. The transformation that
takes place within Louka as a result of caring for Kolya mirrors the democratic transformation of Czechoslovakia.
-

This film also won an Academy Award in 1966.
-
Loves of a Blonde: Acclaimed director Milos Forman was nominated for his first Academy Award with this tender and humorous look at a young woman's journey,
from the first pangs of romance to its inevitable disappointments. Loves of a Blonde immediately became a classic of the Czech New Wave.
-
Lemonade Joe: Looking for a Czech satire of the American Western genre? Lemonade Joe, which became a cult classic in Czechoslovakia, is the
intelligent and riotously funny film for you.
