Many colleges and universities across India maintain large libraries. Some things about the libraries will seem very familiar to you, and others may surprise you.
Academic libraries are often restricted to those affiliated directly with the college or university. If you want to use another university's library, you may have to ask its head librarian for permission. Most academic libraries in India require users to leave their personal belongings in a locker. You may only be allowed to carry a pencil and paper with you into reading rooms.
You will likely have to ask a librarian to get any materials you want. Because of the variety of classification systems used in India , this may make research easier for you!
The good news is the catalog systems. Most Indian colleges and universities put their catalogs online, and the majority are in English.
